All about the organization > how is the tasting performed ?
Blindfolded!
Bottles are obviously kept completely anonymous,
revealing only an identification number, the vintage and the appellation.
This makes it impossible for the taster to know the producer.
Wines from producers and sellers are not differentiated on the table.
A vintner member of the jury cannot judge his or her own wines.
Bottles are laid out at least one hour before the tasting to achieve an ideal temperature.
Once the wines have been individually evaluated, the judges decide, together with an oenologist, which ones should or should not be awarded medals, and if so, which medal (gold, silver or bronze).
This allows the jury to make a collective decision as opposed to simply adding up a tally of individual marks.
Immediate results.
Even before tasters have time to spit-out the last wine sample, an optical reading system steps into place to quickly analyse the score cards and within the hour, the results are announced.
