984 is the number of wines awarded on Saturday the 10th of May at the Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine 2008.

270 Gold medals, 422 Silver medals and 292 Bronze medals were awarded.
The list of medal winners can be seen at the site www.concours-de-bordeaux.com with the possibility to consult the results by appellation, year, wine colour, award category ....and even look at the different criteria.

More than 1000 vineyard and wine professionals came together this Saturday the 10th of May at the Bordeaux Conference Centre especially for the 52nd edition of the Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine.
In total they tasted 3 480 samples, coming from 90 appellations. Only 28,30 % received accolades.

For wine growers, being awarded a medal at the Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine gives a real commercial advantage. This applies to exports with countries like Japan and Germany being particularly impressed by award winners. The same is also true for France where 80% of all wines today are sold in hypermarkets or supermarkets. There, where wines offered can appear to be complex or difficult to read, the medal constitutes a marker of choice for buyers looking for reference points to avoid errors.
But be careful, not all competitions carry the same level of reliability. The Bordeaux Competition is certified ISO 9000 - version 2000 for its organization.
