All about the organization > How are the wines collected?
They are taken directly from the owner’s property.
Under no circumstances does such a strict competition allow for the producer to send the samples to the organization on his own accord!
The wine is collected from the storehouse by external collectors sent by the Gironde Chamber of Agriculture.
This system ensures that the wine registered by the producer matches the one being tasted on the day of the competition.
In other words, all fraudsters beware!
The producer must provide 4 samples of each wine being presented at the Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine.
2 are kept for tasting on the day of the competition (one is presented on the tables, the other is kept on reserve in case of any problems arising with the other one, e.g. corked taste)
1 is sent to a laboratory for analysis.
The 4th is kept by a Fraud Repression Department, in the event of legal action.
Collectors check onsite that there is no disparity between the quantities stated by the producer on his registration form and the present quantities in stock.
The aim is to award medals to exact quantities of wines.
